How Successful Is Your Blogging Career Bloggers?

Blogging for business is one of the fastest growing digital marketing trends of 2018. Customers now look to blogs for information, hacks, how-to instructions, industry insights, and inspiration. As more businesses embrace the power of blogs to drive growth, the number of published posts is growing exponentially.

Over 4.2 million blog posts are published every day. A casual internet search for almost any given topic will bring up thousands of results. If you want your blog to get noticed, you must publish stand-out posts designed to cut through the noise.

Whether you write your own blog posts or outsource to a professional, it’s important to track your results. Here are 6 signs of blogging success.

1. Click-Through Rates

When sharing your blog on social media, the ultimate goal is to drive traffic back to your website. This is where your readers can learn more about your company and move down the pipeline towards becoming paying customers. Blog posts with high click-through rates indicate that you’ve chosen topics of interest and crafted compelling headlines. You’ve done a great job hooking your readers and making them want to learn more.

2. Social Media Engagement

Social media likes, shares, and comments are an excellent way to measure the positive impact of a blog post. This shows that you’ve engaged your audience and your post is powerful enough to elicit a reaction. Reader engagement is also one of the components of the Facebook algorithm that determines whether your posts show up in newsfeeds.

3. Email List Growth

If your email subscriber list is growing from week to week, your content is compelling enough that your readers want to opt-in. This shows that they’ve connected with your unique voice and don’t want to miss any of your future content.

4. Reduced Bounce Rates

Bounce rates refer to the amount of time a visitor stays on your site before moving on. Decreasing rates indicate that readers are spending more time exploring your content. Your post has driven readers to your website and they’ve found enough additional value there to stay there.

5. Ongoing Traffic

If your posts are relevant and interesting, your traffic and click-throughs will continue well beyond the first day of posting. When a post creates a buzz and people start to share it, the traffic will actually increase in the days and weeks following the initial publication. This is one of the clearest indicators of blogging success.

6. Guest-Blogging Requests

Bloggers often search for established blogs in their industry to pitch guest-posting opportunities. When you begin receiving these pitches, you’ll know your blog is on the right track.

Blogging for business can be extremely rewarding if done correctly. If your posts aren’t giving you the results you expected, it’s time to take a closer look at your strategy. Tracking your results using multiple benchmarks helps you identify problems and make adjustments as needed.

  2. I am loving this post! Web traffic is so important when it comes to SEO and making those sales that we all strive for as online marketers. You made some very valid points. One thing I struggle with at times is to keep people engaged long enough. I know there is an art to content marketing. Another issue I have found is that people struggle with what to do next with their audience. Lead capture pages etc. Great job!
